The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith’s Dignitas personae doesnotofferadefinitiverejectionofthepracticeofhumanembryoadoptionas intrinsicallyevil, butneitherdoesitsimplyleavethematteran“openquestion.” The document does indeed oppose the practice, but its reasons for doing so are notclearlystatedandseemtobeintensionwithitsownaffirmationsofthe personal dignity of embryos and the goodness of adoption.
